ABOUT THE BASQUE FESTIVALThe ParkLocated just 5 miles south of Carson City’s capital building on U.S. 395, Fuji Park spans nearly 15 acres and is nestled among 150 year-old cottonwoods. It runs along our community’s treasured Clear Creek, a tributary of the Carson River. Aptly named, the stream’s crystal clear waters run year around and are fed from the icy snowmelt of the pristine Sierra Nevada Mountains. Park amenities include a full service hall, which stages our meal and provides table seating. Large grassy areas provide picnic blanket and lawn chair places to relax, and playground equipment.
The SponsorsAn event of this size is impossible without the generous support of our sponsors, many of whom have been in on this effort from the beginning. We are especially grateful for the ongoing support, culinary talent and enthusiasm of the nationally renowned, downtown Carson City bistro, Adele’s Restaurant and Lounge. Proprietor and acclaimed chef, Charlie Abowd, has, year after year, overseen, cooked and turned out an authentic feast that has delighted picnickers and introduced them to the wonderful tastes of the Basque community. The picnic has grown from an original attendance of about 600, to last year’s record attendance of several thousand. We ask that all of you show your appreciation by supporting these various fine businesses in any way you can. (Please see a complete list below.) With your support and our sponsor’s assistance, we hope to make the St. Teresa of Avila Basque Festival the largest celebration of Basque heritage in Northern Nevada. To our generous sponsors …………Eskerrik Asko (thank you!) |

The Festival GoalThe primary goal of the St. Teresa of Avila Basque Festival is to provide a community-wide opportunity to experience Nevada’s Basque heritage – keeping traditions alive and enjoying the blessings of living in this area. Additionally, the festival serves as an important fundraising opportunity for our Parish youth programs and our beloved St. Teresa School, which serves grades K – 8. We invite all who support our efforts to join in and make this community event even better.
