Early fall in the capital city wouldn't be complete without St. Teresa of Avila's famous Basque Festival.  This event attracts several thousand people each year, providing a community-wide opportunity to experience Nevada's Basque heritage, keeping our traditions alive while enjoying the blessing of living in the area.

In its 13^th year the St. Teresa Basque Festival is better than ever. With the help of Zen Bat Gara, the University of Nevada’s Basque dancers, our Bertsolari, the verse singer, Sandy Moore and her dog herding demonstrations, wood-chopping contests, games of Mus dotting the park, and, of course, an incredible meal complete with mahogany grilled lamb, turkey and chicken, beans from Gardnerville’s three Basque dinner houses, and a mouth-watering lamb stew, there isn’t a better way to spend a Sunday. We are happy to celebrate with you the rich heritage and traditions of northern Nevada’s Basque culture.

A newsprint edition of the 2010 Basque Festival program will run in the Nevada Appeal on September 12, 2010. A glossy edition of the program will be distributed at the festival as well as at select locations and to St. Teresa parishioners on September 19, 2010.
